Karst Technology wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, screen magnification or other assistive technology.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard most widely used for website accessibility in the United States. We treat this as ongoing work, not a one-time task.

What we have done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the item in focus is clearly outlined.
  • A “Skip to content” link is the first thing a keyboard or screen reader user reaches.
  • Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labels so assistive technology can describe them.
  • Text and controls are checked for sufficient color contrast.
  • Form fields have visible labels, and errors are explained in words and announced to screen readers.
  • Moving decoration can be turned off with the “Pause animations” control at the bottom of every page, and is switched off automatically if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • The site works when zoomed to 200% and on small screens without scrolling sideways.
  • Purely decorative drawings are hidden from screen readers so they don’t get in the way.
  • We test pages with automated accessibility tools and by hand with a keyboard.

Known limits

  • Project photos are added by our staff over time. We ask for a text description with each one, but an older photo may be missing one.
  • Websites we link to, such as video streaming services, are run by other companies and may not meet the same standard.
